Important updates to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Hi there,
We’re writing to let you know that we’re updating our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We’ve outlined the main changes below. No action is needed from you. You can read the full, updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy by visiting the embedded links. Your Meetup experience stays the same.
Terms of Service
- Meetup will now be operated by a different Bending Spoons affiliate. We’re making some administrative changes and, as part of these changes, your agreement with us will be transferred to Bending Spoons Operations S.p.A., which will provide Meetup to you. Invoicing may be handled by a different, designated Bending Spoons affiliate.
- There are now two versions of the Terms. One applies if you live in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, and the other applies if you live anywhere else.
- Clearer guidance on local rules. If you live in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we’ve clarified how the legal and regulatory rules in your country apply to your use of Meetup.
- Updated way to resolve disputes. If you live outside the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, we’ve introduced an updated arbitration agreement for disputes with Meetup.
Privacy Policy
- How we use your data is clearer. We’ve made it easier to understand what personal data we use, why we use it, and how long we keep it.
- There’s more information about your privacy rights and choices. We’ve given more detail on what you can ask us to do with your data, and how to make those requests.
- The policy now better reflects privacy requirements in different regions. Added information includes more details for users in certain US states.
If you are using Meetup, these changes will go into effect on November 1, 2026. Until then, the previous versions of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy will still apply.
By continuing to use Meetup from November 1, 2026 onward, you’re accepting the updated Terms of Service and acknowledging receipt of the updated Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree to the updated Terms of Service or Privacy Policy, you should stop using Meetup and close your account before November 1, 2026.
Thanks for being part of Meetup! If you have any questions, please reach out by submitting a request through our contact form.
